My husband, Jon, is a game guy- computer games, board games, card games…the more strategy, the better. To combine my love of vintage with his love of games, our home office is decorated with old wooden game boards from the 1930s-1950s. They make for great wall décor and it’s been a fun challenge to hunt them down.
So when I ran across this domino clock idea on Pinterest, putting it on my project to-do list was a done deal. This post contains affiliate links for your crafting convenience.
I found old wooden dominoes several months ago at a cute shop in Pendleton, SC and tucked them away in my Craft Room. But I didn’t find the perfect clock face until very recently- a round cutting board from the thrift store! For $1.50, this little teak cutie was going to be PERFECT for the job.

This is the kind of project that goes quickly once you have all the perfect parts. First, I gave the cutting board a good scrubbing after removing the rubber feet and stickers. Then I rubbed it with a little wood oil to give the grain a nice color. Nest step? We drilled a hole in the center of the cutting board (after measuring several times to ensure we were centered). This is where the clock kit will go.

Then, I glued each domino around the center of the cutting board. And yes, I double- and triple-checked that I was gluing them in the right order.
I started with 12, 3, 6, and 9…made it easier to fill in.
All done! Ready to get ‘clocked’!
After the glue had set, I put together the clock kit– super easy!! And how awesome is it that the mechanics/battery fit perfectly in the cutting board’s “cubby” on the back??
Fits like a glove!

And then just like that, I had a delightful domino clock! Complete and utter cuteness, I just love it- and more importantly, so does Jon.
